1997 Dodge Viper GTS // Viper Red // KW Coilovers // Gen IV Brakes // Borla Exhaust // 32K Miles GUYS... MY GOD. LOOK AT THIS THING. But the GEN II VIPER GTS? THAT'S THE ONE THAT STARTED IT ALL FOR SO MANY OF US. The long hood, unmistakable double-bubble roof, massive rear haunches, side-exit exhaust design, and one of the most outrageous silhouettes ever put on an American sports car. And when you find one finished in VIPER RED, sitting on a set of Forgestar wheels lowered on KW COILOVERS with the stance absolutely DIALED IN? CHEF'S KISS. THIS IS EXACTLY HOW WE WOULD WANT OUR OWN VIPER GTS TO LOOK. There's something about the second-generation GTS that modern performance cars simply cannot replicate. The proportions are outrageous, the styling is timeless, and the entire car was built around one very simple philosophy. BIG V10. MANUAL TRANSMISSION. REAR-WHEEL DRIVE. No unnecessary distractions. Just one of the most exciting American sports cars ever produced. Underneath that enormous hood sits Dodge's legendary 8.0-liter naturally aspirated V10, producing 450 horsepower and 490 lb-ft of torque in factory configuration, paired with a proper 6-speed manual transmission. And while those numbers were incredible in 1997, what really makes these cars special today is the experience. The sound, the torque, the mechanical feel, and the fact that you're driving something that looks like it belongs on a racetrack. THIS IS RAW AMERICAN PERFORMANCE AT ITS FINEST. But what makes this particular Viper so appealing is how thoughtfully it's been upgraded. LET'S TALK ABOUT THAT STANCE. The car sits on a set of KW Coilovers, and we absolutely LOVE how it looks. The ride height gives the Viper a much more aggressive appearance while complementing the original body lines instead of taking away from them. From the front three-quarter angle to the wide rear end, everything just sits RIGHT. NOT TOO MUCH. NOT TOO LITTLE. ABSOLUTELY PERFECT. And the upgrades go well beyond appearance. This GTS has received a Gen IV Viper brake conversion, featuring 6-piston front calipers and 4-piston rear calipers. That's a serious upgrade over the original braking setup and exactly the kind of modification we appreciate on a performance car like this. THE RIGHT UPGRADES MAKE AN ALREADY INCREDIBLE CAR EVEN BETTER. Then there's the exhaust. BORLA EXHAUST. CAT DELETE. TUNE. AIR INTAKE. If you've ever heard a properly modified Gen II Viper, you already know how special these cars can sound. The V10 has a character unlike just about anything else on the road, and the Borla exhaust gives this car the aggressive personality its appearance deserves. A VIPER SHOULD LOOK MEAN AND SOUND EVEN MEANER. And this one certainly has the ingredients. Another thing we really appreciate is the recent mechanical attention. Within approximately the last 8,000 miles, this Viper has received a new clutch, lightweight flywheel, electric fan setup, radiator, billet water pump, billet power steering pump, and Mishimoto radiator hoses. That's a meaningful list of work addressing several important components of the car. The lightweight flywheel is also a nice enthusiast-focused addition, complementing the manual transmission and the overall driving character. And the rear tires have only a few hundred miles on them. These are exactly the kinds of details we love seeing when evaluating a properly enjoyed performance car. SOMEBODY PUT REAL THOUGHT INTO THIS BUILD. The car also features a custom JL Audio system throughout, bringing an upgraded listening experience to the cabin. Although, let's be serious... WITH A BORLA-EXHAUSTED V10, WE'RE NOT SURE HOW OFTEN WE'D TURN THE RADIO ON. And with just 32,211 miles, this Viper strikes a fantastic balance between being a collectible modern classic and a car that can actually be enjoyed. We love seeing examples that have been driven, maintained, and thoughtfully improved rather than simply parked away and forgotten. We believe these cars remain undervalued for what they represent, and their long-term collector appeal is a big reason we're so passionate about them. AND HERE'S THE PROBLEM WITH THIS PARTICULAR VIPER... WE LIKE IT A LITTLE TOO MUCH. Between the Viper Red exterior, the KW suspension, the upgraded brakes, and the overall presentation, this is exactly the kind of Gen II GTS we'd love to have in our own garage. SO SOMEBODY BETTER BUY THIS THING BEFORE THE OWNER DECIDES TO KEEP IT IN HIS PERSONAL COLLECTION. And we're only half joking. THIS IS HOW YOU BUILD A VIPER GTS. The original design is already one of the greatest American sports car designs ever created, and these upgrades complement what makes the car special. This is one of those cars that makes us question whether we should even be selling it. Buy this Viper with full confidence. Pre-purchase inspections are always welcomed!
