The S197 Mustang brought back the look of the late-1960s fastbacks on a new platform. GT models used a 300-horsepower 4.6-liter V8 until the 5.0-liter Coyote arrived for 2011 with 412 horsepower, later 420; the V6 became a 305-horsepower 3.7-liter the same year. A restyle came for 2010 and another update for 2013. Special editions run from the GT/California Special to the track-focused 2012 and 2013 Boss 302 and its Laguna Seca version. It was the last Mustang generation with a solid rear axle.
