The original Viper RT/10 was a deliberately raw roadster: an 8.0-liter aluminum V10 making 400 horsepower, a six-speed manual and side-exit exhausts, with no exterior door handles, roll-up windows, ABS or traction control. Carroll Shelby consulted on the project, and Lamborghini, then owned by Chrysler, helped develop the aluminum engine block. It went from a 1989 concept car to production in about three years.
