1998 Dodge Viper GTS Hennessey Venom 600 // 602HP // 203+ MPH // 6-Speed Manual // Hennessey-Built Guys... JOHN HENNESSEY BUILT THIS BAD BOY. And if you know the history of Hennessey Performance, you know just how important these early Vipers were. Before the Venom GT. Before the Venom F5. Before Hennessey became synonymous with four-digit horsepower insanity... THERE WAS THE VIPER. Hennessey itself credits the Dodge Viper with playing a major role in the company's history. John Hennessey was a founding member of the Viper Club of America, and Hennessey's early modified Vipers were among the cars that put the company on the map. (Hennessey Special Vehicles) And the Venom 600 was an absolute monster for its time. MotorTrend tested a Venom 600 GTS at an incredible 203 MPH, describing a car producing 602 horsepower — at a time when a stock 1998 Viper GTS produced 450 horsepower. Think about that. MORE THAN 600 HORSEPOWER AND 200+ MPH IN THE 1990s. That's supercar insanity even today. In 1998? THIS THING WAS FROM ANOTHER PLANET. And we're talking about a Viper here. No traction-control safety net. No modern electronic wizardry. A massive V10. A 6-speed manual. Rear-wheel drive. And a driver sitting in the middle of all the madness. That's why this isn't just another modified Gen II Viper to us. It's a piece of 1990s American tuner history. And then there's a HENNESSEY VENOM 600 GTS. This was Hennessey taking an already outrageous American sports car and asking the only question that mattered: “What happens if we make it completely insane?” Apparently the answer was 602 horsepower and more than 200 MPH. And here's what makes it even cooler today: these early Hennessey Vipers represent part of the foundation of a company that would eventually go on to build its own hypercars. Hennessey says a Viper-based Venom was its first V10 Viper to break 200 MPH and credits that era with helping put the company on the map. (Hennessey Special Vehicles) THE LEGEND STARTED WITH CARS LIKE THIS. We've been collecting Vipers heavily because we genuinely believe these cars represent one of the greatest eras of raw American performance. Finding a Gen II GTS is cool. Finding one carrying the Hennessey Venom name from the era when Hennessey was establishing its reputation? THAT'S DIFFERENT. DON'T JUST SHOP A VIPER. COME EXPERIENCE THE SNAKE PIT.
