But every once in a while, something comes through our doors that makes us stop and say... MY GOD. SATIN SILVER. SUPERCHARGED LT4. HEADS & CAM. 6-SPEED MANUAL. BUILT BY 21ST CENTURY MUSCLE CARS. THIS IS THE REAL DEAL. Let's start with the appearance because this thing looks absolutely RIDICULOUS. Originally finished in Summit White, this ZL1 has been transformed with a Satin Silver exterior wrap, giving the car an aggressive, almost concept-car appearance. There's something about Satin Silver on a modern American muscle car that just WORKS. The finish highlights the Camaro's muscular body lines, aggressive front fascia, sculpted hood, and wide rear haunches without looking overly flashy. IT LOOKS LIKE SOMETHING THAT SHOULD HAVE COME STRAIGHT OUT OF A CHEVROLET PERFORMANCE DESIGN STUDIO. And while the exterior is incredible, the real story is what's underneath the hood. THIS IS NOT YOUR AVERAGE ZL1. From the factory, the sixth-generation Camaro ZL1 was already an absolute MONSTER. Chevrolet equipped these cars with the 6.2-liter Supercharged LT4 V8 producing 650 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque, making the ZL1 one of the most serious American performance cars of its era. But somebody decided that wasn't enough. ENTER 21ST CENTURY MUSCLE CARS. For those familiar with the Texas performance scene, 21st Century Muscle Cars is a recognized name in high-performance GM builds. And this ZL1 features an extensive heads-and-cam performance package from their shop. WE'RE NOT TALKING ABOUT A SIMPLE INTAKE AND EXHAUST. We're talking about a properly involved engine build featuring upgraded cylinder heads, a custom camshaft, valvetrain components, supercharger modifications, supporting hardware, and professional tuning. THIS IS THE KIND OF BUILD THAT GETS US EXCITED. The engine package includes Stage 2 ported LT4 cylinder heads, a 21st Century Muscle Cars custom camshaft with custom fuel lobes, upgraded dual valve springs and retainers, chromoly pushrods, high-performance lifters, and a phaser lockout kit. That is a serious amount of engine work. And to complement the internal upgrades, the supercharger system received additional attention. PORTED AND POLISHED SUPERCHARGER SNOUT. The combination is designed to improve airflow, support increased boost, and take advantage of the upgraded cylinder heads and camshaft. And of course, a build like this needs to sound the part. AMERICAN RACING HEADERS. This ZL1 features American Racing stainless steel long-tube headers paired with an American Racing stainless X-pipe with high-flow catalytic converters. Combine that with the custom camshaft and supercharged LT4, and you've got the ingredients for one seriously aggressive-sounding Camaro. THERE'S JUST SOMETHING ABOUT A CAMMED LT4. The idle, the supercharger whine, the exhaust note — it's exactly the kind of mechanical personality that makes a properly built American performance car so special. We purchased this ZL1 directly from a good friend of ours, which makes us even more excited to offer it. That kind of familiarity means a lot to us when dealing with modified performance vehicles. THIS ISN'T SOME MYSTERY BUILD WITH A BUNCH OF RANDOM PARTS THROWN AT IT. The documented build specification identifies the engine components, supporting modifications, professional installation, and custom dyno and street tuning. And that's exactly what we like to see. The package also specifies a chassis dyno report covering horsepower, torque, and air/fuel ratio.
